I travel to feel more alive, and I write so others feel they can do it too.
Hi, I’m Al — the voice behind Nomad in the Sun. This space is where I share slow travel, mountain journeys, cultural moments, practical guidance, and the inner shifts that happen when we allow the world to change us.
My hope is simple: to inspire people to travel more deeply, more courageously, and more consciously — not just to see beautiful places, but to understand them, respect them, and give something back along the way.
The longer story
Why I created this space
I created Nomad in the Sun because travel has never felt superficial to me. It has been one of the most powerful ways I’ve learned about freedom, humility, beauty, discomfort, courage, and connection. The more I moved through the world, the more I wanted to document not just where I went, but what those places revealed.
This page is not only about me as a traveler. It is also about what I want this platform to stand for. I want this to be a place where readers feel encouraged to dream bigger, travel with intention, and trust that meaningful journeys are possible even if they begin with uncertainty, fear, or limited resources.
I care deeply about using travel as a force for awareness and contribution. That means paying attention to people and places that are often overlooked — minorities, communities affected by poverty, and landscapes with extraordinary ecological or cultural value that still do not receive the protection they deserve. Over time, I want this project to contribute in tangible ways, supporting people, protecting places, and directing attention where it is needed most.
If you’re here, I hope you find more than inspiration. I hope you find honest stories, useful guidance, and a reminder that the world is still full of wonder — and that the way we move through it matters.
